Students in Mr. Gallant's freshmen English I and Creative Writing Workshop classes answered a challenge set forth in Poets and Writers magazine in the two days between the ice storm and Christmas break. Each student "erasured" a page of the magazine that described a kind of "found" poetry, where existing texts are deleted here and there so that the remaining words form a poem. Mr. Gallant sent the students' work to the address given in the article. The editors at Poets and Writers (www.pw.org) decided to publish 31 of the students' erasure poems online, and Timberlane was mentioned in the Table of Contents of the February/March 2009 edition of the magazine. Congratulations to the students, now published poets!
