HISTORICAL
HONOR SOCIETY (HHS):
HHS is an organization for young people in their junior or senior year of
high school who show exemplary interest in the social sciences. HHS is
self-governing, but adheres to the accepted rules and regulations of all
Timberlane Regional High School academic honor societies.
Through projects and events, HHS members develop leadership skills and learn
the value of hard work. They also help to improve their local and school
communities by working to promote and preserve history and the academic
study of history.
Members will be required to attend bi-weekly meetings, attend and
participate in various HHS activities including, but not limited to Spirit
Week, National History Day, and Old Homes Day. Members of HHS are also
members of the National History Club and are responsible for all duties
related to that association.
MODEL UNITED NATIONS (Model UN):
Model UN is an organization that brings students from different schools in
the area together for conferences. At a conference, each student takes on
the role of a country in a particular United Nations committee. Each
committee is presented with an issue that they must resolve. The delegates
of each country work together to come to a solution that they can pass
through their committee.
This past school year, the Timberlane Model UN team attended the conference
at UMASS Lowell where they took 1st place as a school. They also attended
the Regional Northeastern Conference, and took 1st place once again. The
following students received individual awards at these conferences:
Conor Dube
Julie Guzman
Evan Dube
Josh Tubbs
Ty Melvin
Congratulations to everyone!
Last year the team attended the UMASS Lowell conference (1st place) and the
Northeastern Conference (1st place). Two years ago they attended a
conference in New York City and are planning to go to that again next year.
