The Timberlane Math Team, more commonly known as Mathletes, are a group of students who get together once a week and compete in a math competition with other local schools. A full team is ten members, but since there are both a Junior Varsity and Varsity team, the Math Team can have a total of twenty people on it. Keep in mind that these two teams are not chosen based on talent, simply chosen by whether or not one team is full or has enough players.
At every meet there are five categories which vary depending on which meet you are attending. Each member will participate in only three categories, which have three questions each, so a perfect score would be nine points while a perfect meet would be twenty-seven points. The math Team is a great opportunity for kids who are looking to advance their math skills or simply compete for the fun of it.
